MITCHELL – Another big deficit and another big comeback that fell short led to another frustrating loss Friday for Pierre Girls Basketball.
The Governors trailed Mitchell 32-15 at halftime before cutting the lead to 43-41 in the last two minutes, but the Kernels held on for a 45-41 win at the Corn Palace to give Pierre (2-6) a fourth straight loss.
Ryann Barry led Pierre with a career-high 16 points, including four three-pointers. Reese Terwilliger scored seven points. Remington Price and Ayvrie Kaiser each had six.
Lauren Van Overschelde led Mitchell (2-6) with 10 points.
Pierre will play Douglas in Box Elder Tuesday. Coverage will begin at 7:30 on The Official Voice of the Pierre Governors, River 92.7, and at the River 92.7 page at the DRG News app & drgnews.com.
