Funeral services for William Veo, 57, of Timber Lake will be at 10 AM, Tuesday, January 11, 2022 at the Timber Lake Community Center. Burial will be at the St. Mary’s Episcopal Cemetery in Promise under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. Visitation will be one hour prior to services. William passed away Sunday, January 2, 2022, at the Cheyenne River IHS Hospital in Eagle Butte.
William C. Veo – Swift Bear ( Naeo’Oh’An’Ku) was born on March 6, 1964 in Eagle Butte SD to Verdell Veo and Irma Lee Condon (Fisherman). His journey ended on January 2, 2022 on the way to the IHS Hospital to Eagle Butte.
William had gone to school at several locations. He attended CEB School and Job Corp at Kicking Horse where he completed his GED and Truck Driving certificate in July 1985. In 1986, he resided on the Standing Rock Reservation where he met his mate Annie Gates, whom has gone to spirit world.
Wild Bill was a bareback rider. He rode his father’s bucking stock in the summer evenings in the Little Eagle area. He was also an Indian relay racer and owned his own race horses, traveling to all of the races. Bill was also an outdoorsman, loving fishing and hunting.
Bill had worked road construction in McLaughlin for several years; working as a laborer. He also worked at the McLaughlin Nutrition Center, at the bingo hall.
William was a very humble and kind man. He is survived by his siblings, Delores Jamerson (Veo), Lunn Veo, Selena Veo (Tudee) and Jeff Veo.
He was preceded in death by his father Verdell Veo; mother Irma Lee Condon (Fisherman), Vernon Veo Jr., and Grandparents; Louise Veo & Susan Veo (Briggs).
