Emergency officials continue to urge people to be extremely cautious if traveling on rural, county and township roads.
Temperatures in the 40s, 50s and 60s have increased snowmelt. Many drainage routes are full and increased runoff may lead to localized flooding.
Emergency officials in Sully, Lyman, Hand, Hughes and Stanley Counties advise people to avoid travel in rural areas after dark and do not drive through flood waters. Many county and township roads in central South Dakota have water flowing along side or over them, especially in low lying areas.
Emergency officials are warning residents to be cautious when traveling in rural areas. Flooding may create unseen obstacles under the water such as erosion or cuts in the roadsways.
