The Pierre City Commission has approved an almost $57.1 million budget plan for 2020, an increase of around $4.8-million from this year’s budget.
City finance officer Twila Hight says commissioners took a practical approach with the budget.
Hight says the 2020 budget doesn’t include any new, large projects but does have some ongoing ones.
She says Pierre has a balanced budget.
Pierre’s budget runs on a calendar year. The majority of the City’s funds come from sales tax, the rates paid for utilities and a small property tax allotment.
