A man who used to live in Pierre has been honored as the Volunteer of the Year by the Miss South Dakota Organization.
Bob Grandpre has been involved since his daughter Nikki won the title in 2005. After her year of service, Bob and his wife Becky served many years as Miss South Dakota prep weekend coordinators in Pierre. They secured the facility, prepared and served the meals and arranged for lodging. Since 2011, he’s served as the Event Photographer and provides photoshoots for titleholders– all at no charge.
Grandpre now lives in Nebraska to be close to his grandchildren. While he provides photography for dance performances and Nebraska pageant competitions, he faithfully returns to South Dakota each year for the Miss South Dakota competition.
