A Pierre woman faces multiple charges– including Aggravated Assault Domestic Violence and DUI 2nd Offense– after Pierre Police Officers were called to a hit and run traffic crash Saturday afternoon.
Police captain Bryan Walz says Central South Dakota Communications received a call of a male and female arguing in the 300 block of North Madison around 3:30pm. 28-year-old Sarah Pourier was operating a motor vehicle while the male appeared to be walking away. Walz says it appears Pourier attempted to assault the male by accelerating at a high rate of speed and aiming the vehicle at him while he was standing off the roadway in a driveway. Pourier drove into the driveway, nearly striking the male. She then struck a planter and continued through the driveway onto the boulevard and over the curb onto the street where she struck a parked trailer. Pourier then fled the scene.
A South Dakota Highway Patrol trooper located Pourier’s vehicle a short time later in the 400 block of East 5th Avenue. Officers located Pourier at a residence nearby. Pourier admitted to operating the vehicle at the time of the crash.
Pourier was arrested for Aggravated Assault Domestic Violence, DUI 2nd Offense, Reckless Driving, Driving Under Suspension and Leaving the Scene of an Accident. She was taken to the Hughes County Jail where she is currently being held on a $5,000 bond.
