Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, many operations have had to rely on technology to do their day-to-day operations. With this year being a Census year, the Census Bureau has also had to take advantage of the technology we have available to us. They have decided to reach out to folks in “non-traditional Census ways.”
Members of the Census Bureau have decided to send out text messages and emails reminding folks about the 2020 Census. You or someone you know may have received a text message similar to this one and wondered if it was a scam. So we did some digging.
We reached out to South Dakota’s State Director for the Better Business Bureau, Jessie Schmidt, to get more information on these messages. Here is her response.
She also said that it is the law to complete your Census and if you haven’t done so, you can do it online. The Census is due on September 30th, 2020.
