Over 75,000 school supplies have been donated to more than 20,000 students in 60 area schools in South Dakota. The Black Hills Federal Credit Union Charitable Fund donated the supplies from their annual drive. According to Heidi Bulman, the community development officer for BHFCU, what started as just a few boxes of supplies has grown into and community-wide project, thanks to local businesses and supporters. This year is a little different due to Covid-19, the focus was to provide students what they need to succeed, regardless to where they attend class — either at school or virtually. In preparation for the 2020-2021 school year, BHFCU employees spent countless hours collecting, sorting and packaging school supplies for area schools. Educatores distribute the donated supplies to students as needed.
