Today’s (Sept. 24) update from the South Dakota Department of Health shows the state setting another record high for number of new positive cases of COVID-19 in 24 hours.
There are 463 new cases today, topping yesterday’s record high of 445 new cases in one day. Hughes County currently has 173 active cases with 120 of those being inmates or staff at the State Women’s Prison in Pierre.
There are:

- recovered– 16,596
- total cases– 20,097
- total persons tested— 181,661
- total tests— 252,559
- total persons negative– 161,564
- ever hospitalized– 1375
- deaths– 210
