The State of South Dakota is expanding its Small Business and Healthcare Provider Relief Program by extending the application window, lowering the minimum grant threshold, raising the maximum grant amount and decreasing the business loss eligibility percentage.
Changes include:
- The application deadline has been extended from tomorrow (Oct. 23) to Oct. 30, 2020.
- The minimum grant threshold has been decreased from $750 to $500.
- For the Small Business COVID Interruption, the Small Business Startup and the Small Nonprofit COVID Interruption programs, the maximum grant amount that can be paid out has been increased from $100,000 to $500,000.
- The eligibility requirement has been expanded from a 25% reduction in business to a 15% reduction in business.

The other components of the program are:
- The Acute Care in Hospitals program will provide up to $15 million to eligible hospitals that are licensed by the state to provide acute inpatient care.
- The Community Based Healthcare Providers program will provide up to $115 million for eligible community providers who have experienced a reduction in business as a result of the pandemic.
The programs use federal Coronavirus Relief Fund dollars to assist small businesses, community-based healthcare providers and non-profits negatively impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
