The National Weather Service has issued a wind chill warning for the central part of the United States from from North Dakota down through Texas.
Weatherology meteorologist Jennifer Wojcicki says one weather system is blocking another, keeping the cold air over a huge area.
The average temperature for the central part of South Dakota this time of year is in the mid 30s and Wojcicki says we should see that by the end of the week.
The National Weather Service says these dangerously cold wind chills could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 10 minutes.
