Six months ago, nearly two dozen positive cases of COVID-19 put around ¾ of the Pierre TF Riggs High School students into quarantine and sent the high school into a hybrid format of classes for a few weeks.
At yesterday’s (March 8, 2021) school board meeting, Supt. Dr. Kelly Glodt says safety protocols put into place in the fall are still working.
Glodt says seeing a small fluctuation in the case numbers isn’t unusual.
Glodt says so far, the Pierre School District has had just under 300 positive COVID-19 cases.
To help monitor for COVID-19, the Pierre School District added a position and a half at the beginning of the school year so there’s a full time nurse at every school.
The Pierre School District updates its COVID-19 case numbers on Mondays on the school’s website.
