The Pierre City Commission and the Pierre School District both drew enough candidates to warrant an election in June.
For School Board, there are five candidates seeking two positions. They are incumbents Dennis James and Randy Hartmann as well as Paul Giovanetti, Bree Oatman and Lindsay Strophus.
The Pierre City Commission has two spots up for grabs. Commissioner Jamie Huizenga is seeking reelection, commissioner Jim Mehlhaff is not.
City finance officer Twila Hight says there are four candidates (Jamie Huizenga, Todd Johnson, Amy Currie and Lucas Solberg) hoping to fill the two positions.
The joint Pierre City/School election will be held June 8.
