The number of people flying out of the Pierre Regional Airport is gradually increasing after falling to an almost complete stop in the middle of 2020 because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
City commissioner Jamie Huizenga says over 750 people boarded flights in Pierre last month (March 2021).
Work has begun on a $200,000 project to build an additional 40 parking spots northwest of the terminal, adjacent to the existing passenger parking lot. Parking is free at the Pierre Regional Airport.
