Pierre School District employees will get pay raises for the 2021-22 school year.
Teachers, administrators and the superintendent will all get a 4% boost and classified employees will see a 5% pay bump.
At a special school board meeting today (April 26), Pierre School District business manager Darla Mayer outlined the main changes for certified employees (all teacher, counselors, etc.).
Classified employees (custodian, food service, secretaries, aides, tutors, etc), administrators and the superintendent will also receive the $30 increase in the district’s contribution to their insurance benefits, which will more than cover the 2% increase in insurance premiums Pierre School District employees will have to pay next year.
Supt. Dr. Kelly Glodt says there are a variety of reasons classified employees are getting a 1% larger pay increase than the district’s other employees.
Glodt says negotiations between the district and the employees went smoothly again this year.
On another note, Pierre is planning to have an in-person, unlimited attendance graduation event Sunday, May 23 at 2pm, but it will be held at Hollister Field, rather than in the high school gym. In case of bad weather, graduation will be moved inside and attendance will be limited.
