A new skate park is in the works in Pierre.
Parks and Recreation director Tom Farnsworth says to build the outdoor pool the community asked for, the park board recommends moving the skate park to the east– but still in Griffin Park.
Farnsworth says if all goes according to plan, the new park will be approximately the same size as the old park and include new concrete, half pipes, quarter pipes, bank ramps, a grind ledge, jump boxes and more. He says the new park could be built yet this year.
The city plans to start demolishing the old skate park as soon as the surplus materials are gone.
