Public hearing on proposed vacation rentals ordinance for Fort Pierre to be held July 6

The Fort Pierre City Council will hold a public hearing July 6 on a proposed ordinance governing vacation rentals within city limits.

Public works director Rick Hahn says Fort Pierre’s current ordinances do not allow homes to be used as vacation rentals.

Hahn says the proposed ordinance (1050) parallels state law.

Hahn says the city will be monitoring the vacation rentals.

Hahn says vacation home rentals will have to be inspected by both the state and the city of Fort Pierre.
