The Capital Area United Way will officially kick off its 2021-22 fundraising campaign Friday (July 9) at the Pierre Trappers baseball game.
This year’s campaign theme is Be the G.O.A.T.– encouraging donors to be the greatest of all time by helping CAUW reach this year’s goal of $555,001 for its 17 local nonprofit partner agencies. Co-chairs Lonnie and Jackie Heier were the first to pledge toward this year’s campaign by donating $5,000 on behalf of the Pierre Dairy Queen.
Tomorrow (July 7) from noon-1pm CT, CAUW, along with their new goat mascot, will be in the Dairy Queen drive thru giving away tickets to Friday’s Pierre Trappers game. During the game, CAUW will have giveaways and fun activities. The night wraps up with a fireworks show at Hyde Stadium after the game.
Capital Area United Way board president Jessica Hanig says being the G.O.A.T. doesn’t just refer to sports and athletes. She says it also means pushing people to be better, and to do better. She says CAUW takes on the fundraising so partner agencies are able to go out and take care of people in the Pierre and Fort Pierre communities.
