A 60 year old man from Pierre has been charged with Aggravated Assault, Reckless Discharge of a Firearm and Possession of a Firearm while intoxicated in connection with a July 5 incident in Pierre.
Information from the Pierre Police Department says around 10:30pm officers were called to the 4300 block of Sandwedge Drive after the Central South Dakota Communications dispatch center received a 911 call regarding a male discharging a firearm inside a residence. Officers arrived and made telephone contact with Severin Boe, the person reported to have been discharging the firearm.
Officers started negotiations with Boe to get him to leave the residence. While that was taking place, additional officers contacted neighbors and asked them to remove themselves from the area until the situation was resolved. Continued negotiations resulted in Boe surrendering in the garage after approximately one hour and 20 minutes.
Boe was taken into custody and is currently incarcerated at the Hughes County Jail on a $35,000 cash bond.
