The first day of school for Pierre School District students is next week (Aug. 19).
Supt. Dr. Kelly Glodt says a month ago, they had over 20 open certified teaching positions, but that’s now down to one.
Glodt says the district is short a significant number of classified staff.
He says administrators have put together the Pierre School District 2021-22 Back to School Plan, which includes information on home health screenings, mask wearing, social distancing, cleaning, visitors to the schools, extra curricular activities, transportation and how they will respond if students become COVID19 symptomatic or test positive. But, Glodt says, it’s all subject to change.
