A portion of Central Avenue in Pierre will remain closed to through traffic this weekend through Monday (Aug. 16) for storm sewer work (weather permitting). The closed section of Central Avenue is from Missouri Avenue, going north to the mid-block alley.
Church Street in Pierre between South Dakota Boulevard and Jefferson Avenue will be closed from 8am-noon tomorrow (Aug. 14). The Street Masters car club will host a gravity drag along the closed stretch of Church Street. To accommodate the drag, Governors Drive between Fourth Street and Broadway Avenue will also be closed to through traffic. Access to the Oahe Family YMCA and Rawlins Municipal Library will be maintained via Jefferson Avenue.
Next week, the Crow Street and Missouri Avenue intersection will close on Monday (Aug. 16) as part of the earthwork needed to develop the outdoor swimming pool. Those living along Missouri will have access from the west. The intersection is expected to open Wednesday (Aug. 18).
Also next week, Franklin Street between Harrison and Van Buren Avenues in Pierre will close to through traffic for underground water main work. The closure begins Tuesday (Aug. 17) and is expected to remain in place through Aug. 24. Residential access will be maintained throughout the project. Through traffic should use alternate routes.
