The Stanley County Commission will again be discussing a proposal to restructure three county offices when it meets today (Oct. 5, 2021).
Auditor Phil Burtch says the change wouldn’t affect how the offices are run.
She says the Treasurer and Register of Deeds positions would be considered deputies of the finance officer.
Burtch says people can drop off written comments at her office today or encourages county residents to attend the meeting to speak directly to commissioners. Today’s Stanley County Commission meeting starts at 5pm CT in the courthouse in Fort Pierre.
The Stanley County Auditor and Register of Deeds offices each have only one employee and the Treasurer’s office has two. Hughes County has had a combined Auditor, Treasurer and Register of Deeds office since 1998.
