Due to a variety of delays, the Highland Avenue construction project in Pierre will extend into next year.
Contractor Morris Inc. says all five blocks currently under construction will be opened this fall and stay open for the entire winter. Construction work will start back up in the spring. The same five blocks will again be closed to the public until the project is completed.
During the $1.4 million Highland Avenue project, a 70-year-old water main is being replaced, new curb and gutter will be installed and the street will receive a new asphalt surface.
