Auctioneers, movie theaters and bowling alleys might not require a license from the City of Pierre next year.
At this week’s meeting (Oct. 19, 2021), the City Commission took the first step to repeal the sections of ordinance that require each of those businesses to be licensed annually by the city.
The commission will hear the second reading of the ordinance change at the Oct. 26, 2021, commission meeting. If approved, the licensing requirements will be removed by the end of the year.
City finance officer Twila Hight says these licenses are currently renewed annually at the start of each new year. She says if the change is made, the businesses won’t have to deal with the licensing process in 2022.
