PIERRE – Pierre Governor Girls Basketball opened its season Friday with a 61-50 loss to Rapid City Stevens at the Riggs High Gym.
Jayda McNabb led the Raiders with 16 points, nine rebounds, three assists and three steals. Taaliyah Porter scored 13 with eight rebounds and three assists.
Remington Price paced Pierre with 16 points, two three-pointers and two steals. Reese Terwilliger added 11 points with six rebounds and two steals. Freshman Lennix DuPris, in her first varsity game, scored nine points off the bench with three rebounds, two assists and a steal.
The Governors shot 45 percent from the floor, but were plagued by turnovers, committing 24.
