The first images from NASA’s new James Webb Space Telescope were unveiled earlier this week (July 11-12, 2022)…. and those pictures are the feature of tonight’s (July 15, 2022) “Discovery on Tap” event at the South Dakota Discovery Center in Pierre.
Executive Director Dr. Rhea Waldman says the showing will take place from 5:30-7pm CT.
Waldman says Discovery on Tap programs are drawing a good crowd.
According to NASA, the new pictures are the deepest view of the universe ever captured– the farthest humanity has ever seen in both time and distance, closer to the dawn of time and the edge of the universe.
The James Webb Space Telescope– the world’s biggest and most powerful space telescope– launched in December 2021. It reached its lookout point one million miles from Earth in January 2022.
