OCTOBER 2022:
A federal jury has acquitted a 56 year old man from Mission of Sexual Abuse.
The charge against Buddy Robert Poor Bear, a/k/a Bud Poor Bear, was related to an alleged incident that occurred on April 15, 2021, in Todd County.
The investigation was conducted by the Rosebud Sioux Tribe Law Enforcement Services and the U.S. Attorney’s Office prosecuted the case.
OCTOBER 2021:
A federal grand jury has indicted a 55 year old man from Mission for Sexual Abuse.
Buddy Robert Poor Bear, a/k/a Bud Poor Bear pled not guilty.
Court information alleges that on April 15, 2021, in Todd County, Poor Bear knowingly engaged in a sexual act with the victim and that the victim was incapable of declining participation in the sexual act.
The maximum penalty if convicted is up to life in federal prison and/or a $250,000 fine, five years of supervised release and payment of $100 to the Federal Crime Victims Fund. Restitution may also be ordered.
Poor Bear was remanded to the custody of the US Marshals Service pending trial. A trial date has not been set.
