RAPID CITY – Rugby Ryken hit a go-ahead three-pointer with 49 seconds remaining Friday to give Yankton the lead for good in a 69-66 upset of top seed Sioux Falls Jefferson at the SDHSAA Boys Class AA State Basketball Tournament at the Summit Arena at The Monument.
Ryken scored again 17 seconds later and scored 12 of his game-high 24 points in the fourth quarter for the Bucks (18-5), who gave away a 10-point first-half lead before prevailing.
Yankton will play Mitchell in Saturday’s title game. The Kernels defeated Sioux Falls Lincoln 61-59. Mitchell will play for a championship for the first time since 2012.

Yankton 69, Sioux Falls Jefferson 66
Rugby Ryken also had five rebounds, six assists and a steal to help Yankton (18-5) to its first championship game since 2018. Drew Ryken scored 16 and Michael Mors had 11 for the Bucks.
Griffin Wilde scored 21 and Kaden Year had 17 points and six rebounds for Jefferson (20-3).
Mitchell 61, Sioux Falls Lincoln 59
Four players scored in double figures for the Kernels (19-4), led by 16 points and 11 rebounds from Steele Morgan. Markus Talley scored 14. Dylan Soulek and Colton Smith each had 10.
Center JT Rock hit for 20 points with 10 rebounds for Lincoln (19-4). Jac Hilgenberg scored 11.
Consolation
Harrisburg 65, Sioux Falls Washington 55
Four double-figure scorers led Harrisburg (15-8). Jacoby Mehrman scored 15 points with five rebounds and five assists. Ethan Determan had 14. Braeden VanBockern scored 13 and Maxwell Knutson had 10.
Tryg Auten led Washington (15-8) with 15 points.
