RAPID CITY – Pierre Governor softball split its two games Tuesday at the Parkview Softball Complex, losing to Rapid City Stevens 22-11 before defeating Sturgis 4-3.

Pierre rallied from an early 5-1 deficit to take a 9-8 lead with four runs in the top of the fourth. Stevens then scored nine runs in their fourth and five in the fifth to end the game by run rule.
Ireland Templeton had three hits, including a double, and two RBI for the Governors. Jenna Bucholz and Emma each drove in two runs. Kara Weiss drove in a run with a triple.

Templeton and Bucholz hit RBI doubles in a two-run fifth inning to break a 2-2 tie and give the Governors (5-9) the lead to stay against the Scoopers. Sheridan Nickolas had an RBI groundout and Amber Roman hit an RBI double in a two-run first inning. Noel Kist pitched six and a third innings with six strikeouts for the win. Erin Leiferman snuffed a Sturgis rally in the bottom of the seventh, recording the last two outs for the save.
