A fund has been established to help a Pierre family who lost their possessions in a house fire earlier this week (July 10, 2023).
A GoFundMe page says the Betty and Fred Hanson family have lived in the house on Pasque Drive for 30 years. A benefit account has also been established at BankWest in Piere (420 S Pierre St., Pierre, SD 57501). Please make checks out to the “Hanson Family Benefit Account.”
Fire Chief Ian Paul says the cause of the fire is not considered suspicious, but it is under investigation.
Emergency responders were on scene for about four hours in 90+ degree heat.

No one was injured, but a house received major damage in a fire this afternoon (July 10, 2023) in Pierre.
Fire Chief Ian Paul says they were called about 2:15pm to a home on Pasque Drive.
Paul says emergency responders were on scene for about four hours in 90+ degree heat.
Paul says multiple other agencies assisted at the scene.
Paul says the cause of the fire is not considered suspicious, but it is under investigation.
