A 32-year-old from Pierre has been charged with nine violations after a pursuit yesterday afternoon (August 15, 2023, 4:30pm) in Pierre.
Information from the Pierre Police Department says officers were notified around 4:30pm that Milo Bullbear was intoxicated, unlicensed and was driving around town. At approximately 5pm CT, officers located Bullbear and attempted to stop his vehicle near the intersection of N. Euclid Avenue and E. Wynoka Street. Bullbear failed to stop and a pursuit was initiated.
The pursuit traveled east and south until they reached Sioux Avenue, at which time they turned and traveled east to the intersection of E. Sioux Avenue and S. Ree Street. There the pursuit was terminated due to Bullbear’s erratic driving and safety concerns with the amount of traffic on the road.
The officers deactivated their emergency lights and sirens and turned off of Sioux Avenue, but they witnessed Bullbear crash into a vehicle at the s-curve near E. Sioux Avenue and S. Washington Avenue. Bullbear left the scene of the accident and continued traveling east. Because of the hit-and-run crash, the officers resumed their pursuit. They continued until Bullbear crashed into a light pole near the intersection of E. Wells Avenue and S. Cleveland Avenue. There, Bullbear was taken into custody and treated for possible minor injuries related to the crash. He was then arrested and taken to the Hughes County Jail.
Bullbear is charged with:
- DUI, 3rd offense,
- Reckless Driving,
- Driving with a Suspended License,
- Aggravated Eluding,
- Felony Hit-and-Run,
- Failure to Report an Accident,
- Failure to Maintain Financial Responsibility,
- Failure to Use a Seatbelt, and
- Unlicensed or Obstructed License Plate.
