The Pierre City Commission has approved the purchase of 200 new electric meters.
Electric Superintendent Devin Harris says the total cost is just shy of $76,000 ($75,920).
Commissioner Blake Barringer asked Harris if this expense was figured into the town’s 2024 budget.
Commissioner Jamie Huizenga asked about availability of the new electric meters.
The two apartment buildings Harris referred to are the Hegg Companies development on the site of the old Pierre City Hall building along Sioux Avenue and the Stencil Group’s development along Abbey Road near the current Pierre City Hall.
The Hegg project includes an 80-room hotel, 60-room apartment complex and a commercial building. The Stencil Group plan includes a 112-unit apartment building with studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom apartments, a sky lounge, a theater and a workout room.
