The Sully Buttes girls basketball program has produced another college basketball player. Stevie Wittler signed her National Letter of Intent Wednesday (Dec. 20, 2023) to continue her academic and athletic career for the Northwestern Red Raiders in Orange City, Iowa.
Wittler has excelled in basketball, volleyball and track for Sully Buttes during her high school career, but her statistics so far in the current basketball season indicate the Raiders will be gaining a pretty complete hoopster. She is currently averaging 24 points, three rebounds, three assists and five steals per game. Wittler becomes the latest product of the Charger system of late head coach Mark Senftner and current coach Susie Rilling set to play at the collegiate level.
“Stevie stands out as a well-rounded player, seamlessly blending skills in scoring, playmaking and defense,” according to Coach Rilling. “The Raiders are lucky to have her on the team.”
Northwestern has a major South Dakota presence in the coaching ranks, as the staff features head coach Kristin Rotert and assistant coach Macy Miller, who were both standout high school players and star players for South Dakota State University.
