SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Oahe Capitals Girls Varsity hockey team was shutdown by the Sioux Falls Flyers 6-1 in league action Sunday (Jan. 14, 2024) in Sioux Falls. After scoring just 1 goal in the first period, Sioux Falls added 3 more goals in the second and built a 6-0 lead until Emily Nemec scored the Capitals lone goal at the 12:48 mark of the final stanza on an assist from Brylee Kafka. Sophia Peschong made 26 saves in goal as the Capitals were out shot 32-14 in the game. The Capitals girls return home next week to host the Mitchell Marlins in a 1:30 pm game in Fort Pierre.

The Oahe Capitals Varsity Boys hockey team had their game with the Brookings Rangers postponed on Saturday (Jan. 13, 2024) in Brookings to inclement weather. The Capitals return home this coming weekend when they host the Huron All Stars on Friday night and then entertain Brookings on Saturday and the Rushmore Thunder on Sunday in Fort Pierre.
