The Pierre Girls hosted the Douglas Patriots last night in search of their fourth win of the season, and they got it. The Govs shooting was on-point from the start as Emery Larson, Gracelyn Taylor and Lennix DuPris all hit early threes to start the game. The Govs carried a 42-10 lead into the half and went on to win 62-19. Kirk Beebout went to the bench late and brought in McKenzi Flottmetyer who scored 8 points and was named the Baumann Lumber Player of the Game. Lennix DuPris led both teams in scoring with 20. The Govs next three games are against Brandon Valley, Aberdeen Central and O’Gorman whose combined record is 24-3. This will be a great stretch of games for the Govs to see where they stack up in the state. The Govs game against Brandon Valley will be broadcast on KGFX.
On the boys side, the Govs were able to snap a 5-game losing streak with a much needed win. It was the Dawson Getz show as he got red-hot from outside, hitting 7 three pointers and finishing with 25 of the Govs 65. Eladio Simental also had a nice night, finishing in double-digits with 12. Give Douglas kept this game close through the first half, trailing by 9 at the break. But the Govs offense was able to overpower the Patriots in the third quarter winning that period 25-8 and would go on to win 65-39. For Douglas, Isaiah Brewer kept them in it scoring 20-points on offense. The Govs will go on the road Thursday night to take on 7-1 Brandon Valley at 7:00 on River 92.7.
