On an emotional evening for the Govs, they welcomed in the 13-4 Mitchell Kernels for a very important Region AA regular season matchup. This game was all Govs for the first half as they strethced out a lead to 20-points in the third quarter. But a scrappy Kernels squad slowly but surely chipped away at the deficit getting it down under single digits again in the fourth. A couple big threes by Londyn Hajek and Addie Siemsen brought it within one possession, but a steal by the Kernels gave them a chance, trailing by one with 9.7 seconds left to get the win. The Kernels looked for Cece Morgan in the paint but Addison Soma’s defense forced an errant shot, and then an ensuing block by Grace Richter solidified the 48-47 win for the Govs. Pierre improves to 10-6, Kernels fall to 13-5.
