With the regular season winding down and playoffs on the horizon, the Govs are playing some of their best baseball of the season and continued that at home yesterday with two-game sweep of Sturgis. In game one, Pierre got the bats going early and opened up a sizable lead in the first inning scoring five runs thanks to senior George Stalley and Charlie Simpson. Pierre would continue to pour in on in the fourth with six more runs ultimately going on to win game one 13-1.
Game two was almost deja vu for the Govs as they opened up a five-run lead in the second inning and would add a seven-spot in the fourth inning to help boost them to a 14-1 victory and earn the sweep of the Scoopers. Cooper Terwilliger had an outstanding day at the plate going 4-4 in game two helping the Govs improve to 14-5 on the season.
Pierre will host Washington on Friday afternoon for another doubleheader in their second to last contest of the regular season out at Hyde Field. game one beginning at 5 PM with the second game to follow.
