All railroad crossings in Fort Pierre will be under construction for improvements to the crossing surface this fall. Each crossing detour is expected to last 1-2 days.
The first railroad crossing to be completed will be Park Avenue on Thursday (Oct. 9, 2025). A one lane detour will be laid out in advance for this closure. The Park Avenue detour is for emergency vehicles and local traffic only. Absolutely NO trailers, boats, campers or over width vehicles will be allowed. There is also a height restriction of 11 feet.
All other railroad crossing detours in Fort Pierre will have two lanes while improvements are being done.
