MURDO, S.D. — Kadoka Area took the consolation championship of the 58th Jones County Invitational Basketball Tournament Saturday afternoon with a 69-52 win over Bennett County. The Kougars streaked out to a 43-23 lead at halftime helped by a hustling defense and fast-paced transition offense. The Warriors stepped up the effort in the second half and pulled within 11 at 60-49 in the fourth quarter, but Kadoka was able to hold their ground for the fifth-place honors. Riley Running Enemy hit five 3-pointers and led the Kougars with 21 points. Karson Eisenbraun added 14 and Jordan Eisenbraun 11 in the win. Rush O’Neill paced the Warriors with a game-high 23 and Caysen Soderlin added 13.
In the first game of the day, Crazy Horse topped Philip, 56-39, to earn the seventh-place hardware. Ayden Janis-Dull Knife led all scorers with 17 while Terrell Ashely scored 13 and dished out eight assists for the Chiefs, who led from start to finish. Weston Reedy led the Scotties with 12 points while Layne Martin was next in line with eight.
