Johnson wants to bring Governor’s Hunt, more state government employees back to Pierre if he’s elected Governor

Should he be elected governor, Dusty Johnson is promising to bring a long-standing tradition back to Pierre and Fort Pierre.

In 2019, former Governor Kristi Noem announced she’d be moving the Governor’s Hunt from Pierre to Sioux Falls in 2020 and rebranding the event as the Governor’s Hunt and Sportsmen’s Showcase.

Johnson says the hunt belongs where the State Capitol is.

Additionally, should he be elected, Johnson wants to stop the flow of state government offices and employees out of Pierre and Fort Pierre.

To make those changes, Johnson would first have to win a four-way race for the Republican gubernatorial nomination, then defeat Democratic candidate Dan Ahlers in the November election.
