Over the holiday weekend, South Dakota State baseball got assigned to the Lincoln Regional of the 2026 NCAA Division I Baseball Tournament which is set to get underway Friday afternoon. The Jacks will face Nebraska, who comes in as the No. 13 overall team in the nation and is the host of this tournament.
Nebraska went an impressive 42-15 in the regular season, the two teams having faced once earlier this year with the Cornhuskers outlasting the Jacks 5-4 back in March.
Since 2013, this will be the second DI postseason appearance for the Jacks, who finished the regular season with a 24-31 record. The Jacks punched their ticket after winning the Summit League tournament over the weekend in Minneapolis, going 3-1 in the tournament and beating regular season champs Oral Roberts twice.
The opening game of regional play will get underway at 3 PM at Hawks field in downtown Lincoln Nebraska and will be streaming on ESPN+. Also in this regional, Ole Miss and Arizona State will play the following game in the tournaments double-elimination format.
