A 33 year old man from Pierre faces criminal charges after a traffic stop on Wednesday (May 27, 2026) about 10:45am.
According to the Pierre Police Department, an officer on patrol on Garfield Avenue noted a northbound vehicle that appeared to be travelling above the speed limit. Using radar, the officer was able to get a reading of 40mph.
Additionally, the officer recognized the driver as Lucas Neuhauser and knew that he had an active bench warrant out for his arrest.
The officer attempted to make a traffic stop, but Neuhauser continued to drive until he reached a residence on Sandstone Place, where he stopped the vehicle.
Neuhauser was taken into custody for the outstanding bench warrant and was charged with speeding and eluding. He was taken to the Hughes County Jail.
