The Zap and Bison have played some incredibly exciting baseball in their last three contests. Before the Zap’s stretch of three off days, the Bison snapped the Zap winning streak that was at six games at the time. It was a 3-2 barn burner in which the Zap left the bases loaded in the ninth inning with the Bison stealing a gutsy victory. It certainly left a bad taste in the Zap’s mouths, and they were back out for revenge in this three-game weekend series.
On Friday night, the Zap pulled out a 11-9 win on the back of two four-run innings and a few big hits from center fielder Dom DeCarlo and right fielder Dillon Bowie. Again, they were tested by a tough Bison baseball team, but this time around were able to get out of there with a win.
Saturday’s game was another thriller, although this time it was on the road. The Bison are currently in the process of planting their flag in Mitchell hoping to call it home, and the fans were treated to a nailbiter to the finish.
Bison jumped out in front first with a two-run first inning, firing up their anxious home crowd. The Zap quickly answered back in a big way scoring five runs in the second inning on three hits.
In the eighth inning, Martin Restrepo, Anthony De Luca and Vinny Nelson all strung together a few hits to drive in four runs and storm back to tie the ballgame at 8-8. However, it would not be the dream finish as all the Bison fateful were hoping for.
Manny Ealey hit maybe the biggest homerun of the season for the Zap, leaving the yard over the left field wall which would prove to be the game winning swing. The Zap would hold on in the bottom half and win it 9-8.
The Zap were led by Ty Farwell offensively who drove in three runs on his 2-for-4 day, but Ealey’s ninth inning homer was the kind of mental toughness head coach Jamy Haberger has been trying to instill in his players.
Zap and Bison will wrap up the series tonight at home, first pitch has been scheduled for 7:05 PM CT tonight due to the heat.
