Beginning August 16, 2026, through May 20, 2027, the Veteran’s Point Area and Veteran’s Point Trail will be closed to public for safety due to construction associated with the Veteran’s Point Trail Rehabilitation Project. This project includes asphalt and handrail repairs, construction of retaining walls, erosion control and overall trail improvements to enhance public access and safety.
The closure is necessary due to recurring safety concerns, including the public passing barricades, entering active construction areas, damaging construction materials, blocking access with unauthorized vehicles and causing interruptions to project operations. These issues have made it unsafe for the site to remain open during construction.
The contractor began mobilization on June 11, 2026, and project completion is now anticipated by mid-May 2027.-
