VERMILLION – Kayla Karius is returning to the University of South Dakota as the Coyotes’ new women’s basketball head coach.
Karius was an assistant to Dawn Plitzuweit in her first two seasons as the Coyotes’ head coach and was instrumental in recruiting Sully Buttes alum Chloe Lamb, Liv Korngable, Monica Arens and Hannah Sjerven to Vermillion. She then was an assistant at Wisconsin for three seasons and spent this past season as an assistant at Drake.
Karius replaces Plitzuweit, who was hired in March as head coach at West Virginia. Karius will be introduced in a press conference Monday on the USD campus.
