PIERRE, S.D. – Pierre Pride 16U fastpitch softball team went undefeated in five games to win the championship of the 4th annual Oahe Power Surge Fastpitch Softball Tournament at the Oahe Softball Complex in Pierre this past weekend (June 22-24). Pierre Pride topped Aberdeen Rampage to win the championship 2-1. Pierre Pride is coached by Amy McTighe. Rapid City Sizzle bested Pierre 18U to earn the 18U championship. The Pierre Tropics 10U team advanced to the final round with an exciting 8-7 win over the Sturgis Storm, but couldn’t overcome the batting of the Bismark Sparks who earned the 10U championship. The Bismark Sparks 12U team were champions of their division winning over the Mitchell Adrenaline Aftershock. Pierre Green Extreme participated in the 12U division but lost their first round game 7-6 to Arlington. Mitchell Adrenaline fended off a valiant comeback attempt by the Rapid City Crush to win the 14U division 8-6. The Pierre Greyhounds also participated in this very competitive division but lost their first round game to Rapid City Terror, 3-7. Thirty-two teams participated in 4th annual Oahe Power Surge Youth Fastpitch Tournament over three days. The tournament is hosted by Oahe JO Softball.
