The Pierre School District is still working out its plan for bringing students back to classrooms next month.
Supt. Dr. Kelly Glodt says they know the wait is frustrating.
Glodt says a survey of parents in the Pierre School District shows if COVID-19 conditions remain the same, 87% will allow their children to be in classrooms next month.
Glodt says at this point, the district is recommending staff and students wear masks, but not requiring it.
He says students can expect classroom seating arrangements and teachers who used to move around to different rooms, to stay in one place.
For those who choose to keep their kids home, he says the online classes won’t be conducted like they were this spring.
When a Pierre student feels ill during the school day, Glodt says they’ll be taken to an isolation room, rather than to the nurse’s office so other students who come into the office won’t be exposed.
