With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great, great grandmother, Katherine “Sis” Sjomeling. She entered peacefully into the presence of her Lord and Savior on May 27, 2025 at the age of 88.
Katherine Lorraine (Langeliers) Sjomeling was born October 15, 1936 on the family farm south of Pollock. Sis was the second of five children, the daughter or Lawrence and Katie (Quenzer) Langeliers. She attended country school and Pollock High School. It was there in Pollock, that she met the love of her life, Howard, and became his wife on November 10, 1953. Together they shared 66 years as partners in raising their children, (Gary, Susan, Terry and Julie) farming, milking cows, and enjoying many years of dancing. Joining them and their family over the years were granddaughter, Candida Goehring, nephew, Dennis Sjomeling, cousin, Adeline (Quenzer) Schnable and Julie Anderson.
Sis found incredible joy in her family and truly in all people….Her home was always open, it was a sanctuary filled with warmth, wisdom and wonderfully prepared meals…the coffee pot was always on. And, O how she loved her family…Her greatest delight in life was found in the laughter, milestones and presence of her husband, children and grandchildren. Nothing brought her more pride than watching her family grow and spend time together.
Sis is survived by her sons, Gary (Betty) Sjomeling, Terry (Kim) Sjomeling; daughters, Susan (Dave) Vowell, Julie (Kim) Rossow; 22 grandchildren; 40 great grandchildren; 3 great, great grandchildren; and two sisters, Alice Slagh and Ruth (Kim) Stoecker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard; parents, Lawrence and Katie Langeliers; brother, Edward and his wife, Ann Langeliers; sister, Wilma Davis and her husband, Dale; brother-in-law, Vernon Slagh; and cousin, Adeline (Quenzer) Schable
