Richard (Ricky) Dean Blue Coat, 64, of Eagle Butte, passed away Saturday, May 17, 2025, at his home in
Denver, CO.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. MDT, Wednesday, June 11, 2025, at CRST Bingo Hall, Eagle Butte. Burial
will follow in St. Thomas Episcopal Cemetery, On The Tree. There will be a procession from the 4-Mile at
10:00 a.m. Wednesday morning.
Ricky Dean Blue Coat was born August 4, 1960, to Jerry V. and Thelma E. (Janis) Blue Coat in Dewey County,
SD. He attended school in Eagle Butte and Minneapolis, MN, later joining the job corps.
Ricky lived for a short time in Eagle Butte, later moving to Denver, CO until the time of his passing.
Richard is survived by his children: Derek Blue Coat of Bemidji, MN and adopted twins, Kim and Misty of
Eagle Butte; two sisters, Mary Ann Blue Coat and Joyce Young Bird of Eagle Butte and one aunt, Margie
Clown of Eagle Butte.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Keifer; two sisters, Charlotte and Rita; three brothers: Arnold,
Vincent and Dale; nieces, Rita LeBeau and Belinda Brown Wolf; and nephews: Vincent Black Bird and
Soloman Black Bird.
Luce Funeral Home of Gettysburg has been entrusted with Richard’s
