It has been a nosedive for the Minnesota Twins over the last few weeks, losers of 11 of their last 12 the Twins just have not been able to break out of this slump they’ve found themselves in. This losing stint has dropped them from second to fourth in the AL Central, and sunk them well under .500 for their season record. But sometimes winning cures all, and hopefully for the Twins, yesterday’s win will do just that.
Minnesota turned to their ace, Joe Ryan, in hopes that he could snap them out of the slump with a great pitching performance, and he did just that. Hurling 6.0 IP while only giving up three hits, Ryan set Minnesota’s offense up to do what they’ve done all year and score. Thanks to the gem that Ryan threw, Minnesota didn’t need much. In the sixth, Willi Castro drove in Byron Buxton with an RBI single, and in the seventh, Kody Clemens homered to add a little unneeded insurance to make it 2-0 which is how the game would go final.
The Twins will look to carry yesterday’s win into the final game of the series as Minnesota looks to split with Seattle. First pitch today is set for 12:10 CT and you can listen live on KGFX 1060 AM and 103.1 FM in the Pierre area. Simeon Woods Richardson will get the start for Minnesota.
